Our task for this assignment is to demonstrate our understanding of how Aperture affects our photographs. I learned that a well lit area is best taken with a high f-stop and dim areas are best photographed with a low f-stop. We took two series of photographs: one consisted with photographs that have a small depth of field and the other consisted of photographs with a large depth of field. I didn't find taking these series difficult until someone had told me that I got my f-stop and depth of field all mixed up and I believed them. This led to me re-calibrating all the information I had in brain and struggling to take the rest of my pictures.
Working on this assignment helped me understand how the aperture helps to accomplish a small and large depth of field relating to what my f-stop is. Having a low f-stop means achieving a shallow depth of field which is great when you want your subject to be the main focus or pop out of the picture and the background to be completely blurred out. While having a high f-stop means having a deeper depth of field which is great if you want the background to be included in the photo. Overall, this assignment enhanced my ability to take beautiful pictures and helped me to figure out how aperture affects photographs.
